ACHIEVING
A GOAL
“Subukan mo lang matalo, ewan ko
lang. Kahit kalian di pa ko natatalo.” That was the phrase that Mr. Leomel kept
telling me as we were preparing for 2013 Division Science Fair. Those words
made me realized that no choice was given to me than to win in this
competition. As a grade 8 representative of our school, I felt the pressure and
expectation that is laid unto my shoulders.
I was very enthusiastic to win, not
just only to bring honor to school but also, I want to prove something. Prove
that I can also do this. Joining and winning in Science Quiz Bee were my dreams
since I was still in grade school. I admit it; I’m not really good in science.
But I took the opportunity to challenge myself to achieve it. “I will never
ever again waste this chance, as in never.”
Because of my eagerness to win, I
committed myself; I trained and reviewed so hard. I have to woke up early to
practice my mind, and open a bunch of books just to make sure that I won’t miss
a single information that might ask to the contest. Me and Mr. Ramos, my coach, came up to a
systematic reviewing plan. A plan where he can monitor how I review. That plan
also reassures that I can finish studying all the materials at a certain point
of time. My mindset during that time was focused to win, to achieve and to
overcome it.
All the hardships that I did
work! All the time that I dedicated, efforts that I exerted reaped a good
harvest. I know that I achieved it because I am determinated, passionate, and
persistent and I did believe to myself. It’s only a small and one of my goals
but I’m happy that I reached it because it’s my dream ever since. Yes, it’s
tough but what’s important is our desire and drive to achieve our goals. And
when the time comes that we were able to accomplish it? IT’S REALLY FULFILLING.
